Janome 2212 Front-Loading Sewing Machine with 12 Built-In Stitches

Do you want an easy to use, highly affordable sewing machine that will help you or your kids be able to start sewing for the first time? Are you looking for a machine that still offers some built-in features despite it being at an entry-level price point? The Janome 2212 might just be the answer you’ve been trying to find! With an easy to turn dial pattern selection that allows you to choose from one of 12 built-in stitches, you can begin sewing right away. There’s even a four-step buttonhole option included as well!

What Features Does the Janome 2212 Have?

If you’re looking for a sewing machine that has a lot of frills, then this isn’t the sewing machine for you. If, however, you’re looking for a machine that can teach you the basics of sewing in a first-hand way, then you’ll love the Janome 2212. It has a drop feed for free motion sewing and the table area is wide enough that you can do some basic quilting as well. It’s small and compact too, which means you won’t have to dedicate a lot of space in order to use this machine.

There are some additional features to consider with the Janome 2212 as well:

  • there are width and length adjustments that you can make to the 12 built-in stitches so you can have an increase level of customization;
  • it offers a front loading bobbin and a push/pull winder so that threading and sewing are pretty simple tasks; and
  • there are two retractable vertical spool pins included with the design for even further ease of use.

Transporting this sewing machine is pretty easy as well. It’s reasonably lightweight and there’s an optional softcover that you can order to let you either protect the machine when not using it or carry it safely. You don’t need the softcover, however, because the Janome 2212 also has a retractable carrying handle included with the design.

Is There Any Sort of Advantage To Using the Janome 2212?

We weren’t expecting a whole lot from this sewing machine. At this price point and with its entry-level characteristics, we figured we were getting some pretty basic. Were we wrong! The Janome 2212 can speed up to 860 stitches per minute and it offers manual thread tension controls so you can make sure your sewing chores get done without a hitch. The presser feet just snap into place and when you put everything together, you’ve got a time-saving, money-saving sewing solution.

It’s difficult to find anything negative to say with this particular sewing machine. With the wrong tension, it is possible to break the needles fairly easily and if you use slow settings, the needle can even get stuck at times in thicker fabric. Overall, however, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the results you can achieve with this sewing machine and that’s why it receives our recommendation today as one of the best sewing machines for entry level needs.
