Are you looking for an affordable serger that will give you a high performance on a consistent basis? Do you want something that’s reasonably easy to use so that even someone who has never used a serger before can figure out what needs to be done? The Brother Serger 1034D is a sewing machine that offers a 3/4 sewing option for a wide variety of different fabrics. From spaghetti straps to the largest ruffles you’ve ever seen, creating decorative edging is nice and easy with this particular Brother model.

What Kind of Features Does the Brother Serger 1034D Have?

When we took a look at this sewing machine for the first time, what immediately stood out to us was the differential fabric feed. It’s incredibly consistent and works with even the thinnest or stretchiest of fabrics that you may have. It creates a professional looking result in no time at all and the stitch quality was never compromised, no matter what we tried to do to test it out.

There are some additional features we think you’re going to like with the Brother Serger 1034D as well:

  • it contains 22 built-in stitch functions that include rolled hems, ribbon locks, and specialty stitch functions for those special projects you may have;
  • it is surprisingly easy to thread, even though it is a serger machine, thanks to the color-coded and numbered upper and lower looper threading instructions; and
  • it uses standard sewing machine needles, even though it can join laces or create dainty decorative edges with ease.

If you’ve never used a serger before and you’re ready to take your sewing to the next level, then the Brother Serger 1034D is one of the first sewing machines you should consider. It isn’t one of the best sewing machines on the market today simply because it’s priced at an affordable price point. It’s also got the features you’re going to need!

Are There Advantages To Using the Brother Serger 1034D?

The nicest aspect of using the Brother Serger 1034D is that you can quickly switch your stitch width with just the turn of a dial. You can go up to 7mm for some of your boldest designs, especially when you consider the fact that the free arm is actually removable. This machine also competes with some of the best high speed machines on the market today, providing you with up to 1300 stitches per minute!

If we could have one wish, it would be that this machine would operate just a bit more smoothly. If you’ve used a serger in the past, then you’ll notice the difference immediately. It would also be nice if you could do a chain stitch or a coverlock stitch with this machine to round out its overall versatility. If you need those two stitches, don’t get this sewing machine.

If you’re looking for a sewing machine that can use regular thread spoolers and regular needles while providing a consistent thread tension that you don’t have to worry about, then the Brother Serger 1034D is the sewing machine for you. It’s responsive, easy to control, and you can even disable the knife with just a flick of a switch. When combined, it’s easily one of the best sewing machines available right now and why it receives our recommendation.
